User Interface Design, commonly known as Graphic User Interface (GUI), is a very important aspect of any application or website. Since many applications are developed on web-based technologies these days, User Interface (UI) plays a major differentiation factor among numerous similar websites. UI design architecture includes various aspects of websites/applications such as navigations, buttons, graphics components, information placement, icons and color combinations. 

We, the human beings, by nature, pay a lot of attention to the way we look. We are attracted towards good looking people. Though we do not judge a person by looks, we certainly take interest in beautiful people. Similarly, users make their first impressions/judgments of a website/application by the way it looks i.e. User Interface (UI). We generally think that our application/website should run fast with great functionality and defect-free code but very few people pay attention to building best User Interface (GUI), which is the “Looks/Beauty” of the application. Good UI makes the application very effective, friendly, and attractive.  

Today’s user is highly demanding. Good code and best functionality alone do not satisfy the user. The user wants a very attractive, friendly, and browser compatible application. 

If your application is having a very user-friendly UI with browser compatibility, users will be happy to use the application frequently. But if your application is not having a good UI, it would drive the user away to another solution that has a better look and feel.  

Today all leading web-based applications, services, and software have an awesome UI. It may be a portal, search engine, messenger service, or an ERP application; everyone is giving importance to UI. Everyone wants their application to be more effective and user-friendly because look and feel of an application speaks a lot that a perfect code cannot in the first interaction. 

Someone rightly said rightly that usability “makes business effective. It makes business efficient. It makes business sense.” Interface design is important because pleasant, attractive, and easy-to-use software sells well any day. Incorporating Usability Practices in projects helps perfecting a complete application.
